BRS 19 – Browns Week 18 Recap, Season Review, and NFL Playoff Preview

BRS 19 – Browns Week 18 Recap, Season Review, and NFL Playoff Preview

The calamity that was the 2022-2023 Cleveland Browns campaign finally came to a harsh conclusion this week as the Browns got thoroughly embarrassed by their division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns once again looked completely outclassed, they finished last in the division yet again, there were some coaching changes with possibly more looming, there are decisions to be made regarding roster building, and there are so many teams that will continue their season next week in the NFL Playoffs. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 18 – Browns Week 17 Recap and Week 18 Preview

It was a tale of two halves for the Cleveland Browns this week as they came out as cold as a winter day in North-East Ohio only to follow it up with a red hot second half from Deshaun Watson and the offense. The defense showed Carson Wentz why he belongs on the bench and picked him off 3 times on the way to an easy win.

Next up the Browns take on the Squealers in the Season Finale with last place in the division going to the loser of this one. The Browns also have a chance to hand Mike Tomlin his first sub-.500 season as a head coach in the NFL.

All of that and so much more, and we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 17 – Browns Week 16 Recap and Week 17 Preview

After another poor showing in week 16 the Cleveland Browns lost to the lowly New Orleans Saints and watched themselves be officially eliminated from playoff contention. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Steelers, who are in complete rebuild mode, passed Cleveland in the AFC North standings.

The coaching staff looks lost from top to bottom, the locker room seems to be turning on Stefanski, they’ve got Team Captains being benched, and they couldn’t beat a team that hadn’t won on the road since week 1. The problems are piling up but the end of the season is near to put us all out of our misery and help us turn the page and look forward to what we hope is a much brighter future. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

Now that the pressure is off, the Browns promptly took care of business at home against a division rival. The defense forced some turnovers, Myles Garrett and the D-Line beat up on an inexperienced QB, and Justin Tucker helped out by inexplicably going 1/3 on his FGs in this one and the Browns were able to reward the Dawg Pound and the rest of the home crowd with a win!

Their only goal from here on out is to help Deshaun Watson progress as much as possible before the end of the season. We have seen some flashes of the Pro-Bowler that they are paying a guaranteed $230MM but he has yet to put together a complete game. And that doesn’t look like it is going to change on Christmas Eve against the Saints as the weather will be brutal and no one will be able to feel their faces, arms, legs, or any other appendages that you can think of. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 15 – Browns Week 14 Recap and Week 15 Preview

BRS 15 – Browns Week 14 Recap and Week 15 Preview

It was another long afternoon of absolutely terrible play-calling in Cincinnati that led to another one-sided loss. And with that the Cleveland Browns playoff chances are officially dead! RIP!

Today we mourn another wasted season with a roster full of talent. This season was another year of undisciplined and uninspired football, another season with terrible play calling and questionable personnel decisions regarding the coaching staff, and one more season of hoping that this would finally be “next year”. So much promise to start the season and so little to show for it now.

But now, to finish the season, we will turn our attention to Deshaun Watson and just how close we can get him to being back to his pro-bowl form. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 14 – Browns Week 13 Recap and Week 14 Preview

Deshaun Watson made his long awaited debut and as expected there was a lot of rust that needs to be knocked off as his 2 years out of football have taken their toll. Luckily the Cleveland Browns were afforded the opportunity to play a peewee team this week in the Houston Texans and they walked away with an easy win. Probably the most surprising development to come out of this one was just how well the defense, that has been terrible under Joe Woods, played en route to 2 TDs. Not to be outdone by Mike Priefer and the boys on special teams getting one of their own.

This week the Browns get the Cincinnati Bengals in the first of back-to-back divisional match-ups and another chance to try to claw their way back into the playoff hunt.

Deshaun needs to get up to speed quick, the Browns can’t afford any more losses, they have multiple games left on their schedule against playoff caliber teams, and just like us Browns fans always do, we are clinging to the little bit of hope that our team’s current 3% chance to make the playoffs allows… And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

The Cleveland Browns added GOAT to Thanksgiving menu this past week as Jacoby Brissett and the boys were able to come up big and give us a huge overtime win heading into the debut of Deshaun Watson against his former team and some of his accusers in Houston!

Jacoby played much better than expected this season, the Browns as a whole have let him down, they get a cupcake game this week for Watson’s debut, we look forward to the rest of the season with him at the helm, but regardless of how well they play they have an uphill battle and will need A LOT of help to make the playoffs, and we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 11 – Browns Week 10 Recap and Week 11 Preview

Disheveled, distant, distracted, and downtrodden. These are just a few words that you could use to describe the Cleveland Browns in Miami this past weekend. Red Hot Ronnie Jams lives up to his name and brings the heat as he lays into the coaching staff and Kenny Thunder joins that train as the caboose. The whole team looked like they didn’t want to be there on Sunday, Nick Chubb got just 11 carries, the defense was a sieve, fans weren’t given a single reason to be optimistic about the rest of the season or the Browns chances to even come close to making the playoffs, every coach is feeling their seat start to get hot, and the Browns next game is against probably the best team they’ve faced all year in a blizzard against Buffalo and the Bills Mafia. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 10 – Browns Bye Week Breakdown and Week 10 Preview

BRS 10 – Browns Bye Week Breakdown and Week 10 Preview

The Cleveland Browns could not disappoint this week as they were on their bye and there was absolutely no chance of losing! They come out of it rested, relatively healthy, and ready to try to make a run and put themselves in a good position for when Deshaun Watson returns in a few weeks.

In the spirit of the break and election season, Kenny Stefanik (not coach of the Cleveland Browns) delivers his first annual “State of the Browns Address”.

The Browns have under-performed this year, their backs are against the wall, they need to win 2 out of their next 3 games to give Watson a chance, and it starts with a huge game in Miami this week against the ultimate bromance, Tua and Tyreek. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sporstcast!
