BRS 41 – Week 5: The Bye Week Blues

BRS 41 – Week 5: The Bye Week Blues

The Cleveland Browns have made it to their BYE week and in this roller coaster of a season they’ve sent their fans to the break singing the blues.

It seems like the Browns were ‘Born Under a Bad Sign’. Our $230M QB said “‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ than be a ‘Working Man'”. On the other hand we had ‘Big Chief’ saying “Fire? ‘It Hurts Me Too’. But ‘I’m a Man’. And I’m going to show my ‘Pride and Joy’ for this team!” And after a devastating defeat at the hands of the Ratbirds all the fans had the ‘Stormy Monday Blues” and were screaming “‘The Thrill is Gone’!” or “‘I’m Tore Down'”.

But we’re Browns fans. And the bottom line is this: Every single one of us is thinking “‘I Can’t Quit you Baby'”. Because even though you keep us ‘Rollin and Tumblin’, drive us ‘Stone Crazy’, and often have us singing the ‘Crazy Blues’, we all know that when the BYE rolls around or the season ends we’ll be saying ‘Please Don’t Go’.

So here’s to hoping that coming out of the BYE the Browns will be saying “‘I Got My Mojo Back'” and they ‘Get Back’ to the team we saw weeks 1 and 3 that demolished their opponents. Because ‘Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out’ and at the end of the season we don’t want to see a bunch of fans with their ‘Leaving Trunk’ wondering how the Browns can be so ‘Evil’. Instead we want them seeing ‘Bright Lights in the Big City’ and yelling ‘Boom Boom’ because the Browns are back in the playoffs and they all realize that your Cleveland Football Team will forever be the ‘Sunshine of Your Love’!

Plus we talk to Anthony Piscazzi, owner of Towpath Distillery about all things Towpath! New releases, special events, and of course his thoughts on the Cleveland Browns!

All that and more and we break it all down for you on THE Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 38 – Week 2: One Hughes Podcast

BRS 38 – Week 2: One Hughes Podcast

The season is off to a fantastic start and we’re still feeling it! The Bengals came to town riding high as Super Bowl favorites in many circles around the NFL. However, the Browns had other plans and weren’t quite ready to anoint them just yet. Our Brownies dominated in all facets of the game and came away looking like they were ready to take the next step in their quest to conquer the North. They now turn their attention to the Shittsburgh Steelers and Kenny Two Gloves and look to hand that team in black and yellow their second straight lopsided loss on MNF and start 2-0 with two wins over Division opponents. We discuss those games, do another interview in our Browns Backers series with the Pittsburgh Browns Backers located behind enemy lines, discuss our week 1 Dawg of the Week, cover some news across the league, do an interview with Big John Hughes who will be joining us on the Cleveland Browns Fan Cruise, briefly talk Cavs and Guards, introduce a new sponsor, and then turn up all over again about the Browns week 1 victory! Here’s to that sweet Victory Monday feeling and looking forward to feeling it again and again as we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 21 – The Cleveland Browns and Their New Gym Shorts

BRS 21 – The Cleveland Browns and Their New Gym Shorts

The Cleveland Browns have found their new Defensive Coordinator in their new gym shorts! **Listens to producer in ear piece** Correction: The Cleveland Browns have found their new Defensive Coordinator in Jim Schwartz! With this hire they hope to bring some accountability to a team that has had none in the past 3 years.

Can he change the culture going into the 4th year of Kevin Stefanski’s regime? What are your thoughts on the Ticketmaster monopoly? What happened in the Divisional Round of the playoffs? What do the match-ups for the Conference Championship games look like? What is the latest news with the Cavs and the Guards? All that and facts for days… And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 18 – Browns Week 17 Recap and Week 18 Preview

BRS 18 – Browns Week 17 Recap and Week 18 Preview

It was a tale of two halves for the Cleveland Browns this week as they came out as cold as a winter day in North-East Ohio only to follow it up with a red hot second half from Deshaun Watson and the offense. The defense showed Carson Wentz why he belongs on the bench and picked him off 3 times on the way to an easy win.

Next up the Browns take on the Squealers in the Season Finale with last place in the division going to the loser of this one. The Browns also have a chance to hand Mike Tomlin his first sub-.500 season as a head coach in the NFL.

All of that and so much more, and we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 15 – Browns Week 14 Recap and Week 15 Preview

BRS 15 – Browns Week 14 Recap and Week 15 Preview

It was another long afternoon of absolutely terrible play-calling in Cincinnati that led to another one-sided loss. And with that the Cleveland Browns playoff chances are officially dead! RIP!

Today we mourn another wasted season with a roster full of talent. This season was another year of undisciplined and uninspired football, another season with terrible play calling and questionable personnel decisions regarding the coaching staff, and one more season of hoping that this would finally be “next year”. So much promise to start the season and so little to show for it now.

But now, to finish the season, we will turn our attention to Deshaun Watson and just how close we can get him to being back to his pro-bowl form. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 14 – Browns Week 13 Recap and Week 14 Preview

BRS 14 – Browns Week 13 Recap and Week 14 Preview

Deshaun Watson made his long awaited debut and as expected there was a lot of rust that needs to be knocked off as his 2 years out of football have taken their toll. Luckily the Cleveland Browns were afforded the opportunity to play a peewee team this week in the Houston Texans and they walked away with an easy win. Probably the most surprising development to come out of this one was just how well the defense, that has been terrible under Joe Woods, played en route to 2 TDs. Not to be outdone by Mike Priefer and the boys on special teams getting one of their own.

This week the Browns get the Cincinnati Bengals in the first of back-to-back divisional match-ups and another chance to try to claw their way back into the playoff hunt.

Deshaun needs to get up to speed quick, the Browns can’t afford any more losses, they have multiple games left on their schedule against playoff caliber teams, and just like us Browns fans always do, we are clinging to the little bit of hope that our team’s current 3% chance to make the playoffs allows… And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 11 – Browns Week 10 Recap and Week 11 Preview

BRS 11 – Browns Week 10 Recap and Week 11 Preview

Disheveled, distant, distracted, and downtrodden. These are just a few words that you could use to describe the Cleveland Browns in Miami this past weekend. Red Hot Ronnie Jams lives up to his name and brings the heat as he lays into the coaching staff and Kenny Thunder joins that train as the caboose. The whole team looked like they didn’t want to be there on Sunday, Nick Chubb got just 11 carries, the defense was a sieve, fans weren’t given a single reason to be optimistic about the rest of the season or the Browns chances to even come close to making the playoffs, every coach is feeling their seat start to get hot, and the Browns next game is against probably the best team they’ve faced all year in a blizzard against Buffalo and the Bills Mafia. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 9 – Browns Week 8 Recap and BYE Week Breakdown

BRS 9 – Browns Week 8 Recap and BYE Week Breakdown

On Halloween night, Monday Night Football, and in front of a prime time audience, our Cleveland Browns came screaming out of the grave they had dug themselves the last few weeks and haunted the Bengals’ all night until Joey B. and the boys were seeing ghosts! We were treated to monster performances on All Hallows’ Eve from Batman (Nick Chubb) and Vecna (Myles Garret), Pumpkin Head was representin’ and the rest of the Dawg Pound was howling at the moon all night long as the Browns thoroughly disemboweled and dismembered their opponents in this one!

Up next the Browns get a chance to rest up and get healthy as Week 9 is the much needed BYE. It’s time to regroup and gear up for the last stretch before QB1, Deshaun Watson, returns and attempts to carry us to the promised land.

And although the Browns were quiet at the deadline, the rest of the league provided absolute madness and brought the NFL trade deadline into the 21st Century of American sports. And we break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!

BRS 8 – Browns Week 7 Recap and Week 8 Preview

BRS 8 – Browns Week 7 Recap and Week 8 Preview

The Browns invent another way to lose a game and fall to the Baltimore Ravens. At 2-5 hope is dwindling for a playoff spot and we haven’t even reached the midway point in the season. Next up we have a date with another AFC North rival in the Bengals and a chance to turn things around. But we’d be lying if we said we’re getting our hopes up. Luckily the Cavs season started and they give us something to smile about. Can the Browns turn it around? How good can the Cavs be? Big trades and injuries around the NFL and what the hell is going on with the old guys in Tampa and Green Bay? We break it all down for you on the Burning River Sportscast!
